Privacy Policy

1. Overview

WorkGPS ("we", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.

2. Information We Collect

  • Account information: email address, display name, and profile photo (from Google Sign-In or email/password sign-up).
  • Profile data: job title and full name you enter in your profile settings.
  • Application tracker data: job listings you save and their status notes, stored in your private account.
  • Subscription status: whether you hold an active Pro subscription, managed via Stripe.
  • Feedback submissions: bug reports or feedback you voluntarily submit through the Feedback tab.
  • Usage data: basic analytics such as search queries and feature interactions, collected to improve the Service.
  • Campus Ambassador application data (only if you apply): your full name, academic .edu email (separate from your WorkGPS login email), school, graduation year, major, planned promotion channels, estimated peer reach, optional LinkedIn URL, your written answer to "why do you want to be an ambassador?", and the timestamp of submission. We may also retain founder-written review notes about your application (for example, a record that we verified your .edu address belongs to you).
  • Ambassador program data (only if you are approved): a referral code we generate for you, the program status of your account (approved / suspended), and — when applicable — a record of suspension reason and date. If you become eligible for a cash bounty, we will ask you separately for a PayPal email address used solely to send your payout; that PayPal email is stored alongside your ambassador profile.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and improve the WorkGPS platform.
  • To process subscription payments and manage billing through Stripe.
  • To send transactional emails such as password resets (via Firebase Authentication).
  • To review feedback and bug reports you submit.
  • To review Campus Ambassador applications, generate referral codes for approved ambassadors, attribute referred signups, and process bounty payouts via PayPal.
  • We do not sell or share your personal data with advertisers.

4. Data Storage

Your data is stored securely in Google Firebase (Firestore and Firebase Authentication), hosted in the United States. Firestore security rules ensure that users can only access their own data.

Caching: To improve performance and reduce cost, we temporarily cache responses from our job-search and AI providers (typically a few hours, up to 24 hours) in Firestore. Cached entries are keyed by a one-way hash of the request, are not linked to your account, and are automatically deleted after a short period.

5. Third-Party Services

  • Firebase (Google): authentication, database, and hosting.
  • Stripe: payment processing. We do not store card details — Stripe handles all payment data.
  • PayPal: bounty payouts to approved Campus Ambassadors. We do not store your PayPal credentials — only the email address you provide for receiving payouts.
  • Google Gemini API: AI-generated content for resume, interview, and outreach features. Inputs are not retained for model training by default under Google's API terms.
  • JSearch / OpenWebNinja: job listing data provider.

6. Cookies

WorkGPS uses cookies and local storage only for authentication session management (via Firebase Auth). We do not use third-party tracking or advertising cookies.

7. Your Rights

  • Access & correction: You can view and update your profile at any time in the app settings.
  • Deletion: You can delete your account from the profile settings, which permanently removes your data from Firestore and Firebase Auth.
  • Data portability: Contact us via the Feedback tab to request a copy of your data.

8. Children's Privacy

WorkGPS is not intended for users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance.
